Below is a list of potential guest speakers to invite to your CERT Team meetings to increase knowledge, enhance team member skills, and gain a better understanding of available community emergency resources:


Disaster Response Family Training

  • How would you respond at home? At school? At work? What supplies would you need? Any people with special needs?
  • 1-1/2 hour presentation with questions; evening or weekend afternoon.
  • Handouts provided for reference; demo supply items for display.
  • Use room at your facility; need electrical for PowerPoint slides.

Greig Rose has over 30 years experience as a college biology professor, Fire District Hazardous Materials Officer, and Army officer. He also has served as a church Safety Officer and Disaster Response Coordinator for eight years. He well remembers being in a “rock and roll” mobile home during the Loma Prieta earthquake! He also teaches the CERT Basic Course in Aptos.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration had predicted a 95% percent chance of an El Niño winter. It may give some relief from our 4-year drought, but also bring with it flooding, coastal erosion, and landslides in our County. For 15 years, Chris has worked with realtors and property owners to better understand potential natural hazards on their property. Chris has an informative presentation and is available afterwards to answer your questions about what you can do to make your home and property safer from earthquakes, landslides, erosion and floods.
